Dr. Jeffery Rothman

Dr. Rothman showed a strong love of animals in his earlier years. He spent some of his happiest days as a young boy at the Bronx Zoo where he knew most of the names of the animals and frequented the Zoological Park twice monthly. Dr. Rothman received his Bachelor of Science degree from the City College of New York and spent two years working towards a master’s degree in Animal Science at the University of Maine at Orono. He obtained his DVM degree from the University of the Philippines. Dr. Rothman began his veterinary career as an associate at Bay Shore Animal Hospital where he was fortunate to train and learn from a superb clinician and surgeon, Dr. Martin Shapiro. He purchased Long Island Animal Hospital in 1979, and using his friendly client-centered approach to veterinary medicine, and with astute diagnostic clinical abilities and strong surgical skills, he developed a small practice into a thriving one. Dr. Rothman has a very geographically diverse clientele, with many clients travelling long distances due to the enthusiastic word-of mouth reputation of the Long Island Animal Hospital. Dr. Rothman is particularly proud that he has several three-generations of family members as dedicated clients. Dr. Jeff is married 43 years, has two children and four grandchildren and he collects antiquity in the veterinary profession. He has been an active member of the Long Island Veterinary Association, serving twice on the Board of Directors.
